For the tenth time in as many years, the employees of Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. (TBC) wore red and collected donations as part of the American Heart Association’s national Go Red for Women initiative.  This year’s designated Go Red for Women day was Friday, February 5.

The national Go Red for Women movement was established in 2004 as a response to the American Heart Association’s quest to raise awareness of the startling statistic that cardiovascular disease was the top killer of women. The call to action asks women and men alike to wear red clothing on a designated day in February. This is in hopes to enhance their understanding of the disease and show their support for the cause.

Gail Watson, the administrative manager at TBC, said that she and other employees first participated in the Go Red day in 2007. Since then, the Firm has raised over $21,000 for the American Heart Association locally, both through corporate sponsorships and employee donations on days like the Go Red day.

“The way our associates rally around fundraising and advocacy for important causes such as cardiovascular disease is truly impressive,” said managing partner James Drislane. “I’m proud of the staff for not just supporting this once and being done, but to make it an annual tradition.”
