In the United States, fewer than 20 states offer summertime sales tax holidays, usually aimed at helping residents with back-to-school shopping needs.
In contrast, Norway cuts the tax rate in half for earnings paid during the month of December. As a result, Norwegians have that much more money to spend on Christmas shopping.
