Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte CPAs, P.C. celebrates 40 years by contributing to 40 charities

Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. (TBC) announced today that 2011 marks the firm’s 40th anniversary. To celebrate this achievement, the firm has announced it will contribute to or support fundraising campaigns for 40 different charities throughout the year. The charities consist of both local and national organizations, including the American Heart Association, Center for Disability Services, Equinox, Inc. and the United Way of the Greater Capital Region.

“It is a great honor to be celebrating our 40th year in business.” said John A. Chiaramonte, chairman of TBC. “Our business has grown from a small accounting firm with a few employees to its current status as one of the Capital Region’s largest accounting and advisory firms with 41 CPAs and over 70 total employees,” Chiaramonte advised.

Chiaramonte was one of the company’s founding partners when the Albany-based accounting firm opened its doors in 1971. The other two partners, Ronald Teal and Larry Becker, founders, have retired from the company but still maintain close ties with the firm.

The firm offers accounting and auditing, personal and corporate tax, trusts and estates, business advisory, valuation and pension services for a diversified clientele. TBC serves four primary markets: commercial businesses, governmental, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals. Commercial clientele includes construction contractors, distributors, manufacturers, professional service firms,  real estate developers, retailers,  technology companies and wholesalers among other businesses.

“Our growth throughout the years has enabled us to attract and retain the finest CPAs, financial professionals and clients in the Capital Region,” said Managing Partner Robert H. Kind, who has been with the firm since 1974. “Our focus is to provide excellent customer service,” Kind continued. “Ranging from individual clients and small firms with few employees and modest revenue, to businesses with revenues in the hundreds of millions, we aim to be the most trusted advisor for each and every one of our clients.”

The firm has eight shareholders, including Chairman, John A. Chiaramonte, Managing Partner Robert H. Kind, Katharine K. Doran, James W. Drislane, Robert A. DrislanePasquale M. Scisci, John R. Teevan, Jr. and Kevin B. Tully. The shareholders combine for 242 years of experience at the firm. In addition, 15 of the firm’s employees have been employed at TBC for 25 years or longer.

“The consistency and quality of service over the years has been a reflection of TBC’s commitment to excellence,” said Tony Caropreso, assistant managing director of Eastern Contractors. Eastern Contractors is one of TBC’s first clients.

While most of the firm’s clients are located in the Capital Region, TBC offers financial, tax and management advisory services to clients throughout the U.S. Through a partnership with CPAmerica International, TBC can access resources within a national network of independent mid-sized firms dedicated to their local communities.

TBC has been the recipient of a number of awards and achievements. In 2011, TBC was named the Small Business of the Year by the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce. TBC has been recognized by The Business Review as a ‘Best Places to Work’ in 2006 and in 2008. The Business Review named TBC as the Capital Region’s the fifth largest CPA firm in the 2010 Book of Lists.
