Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. (TBC) was recently named as one of the 2011 Best Accounting Firms to Work for. The annual list of “Best Accounting Firms” was created by Accounting Today and Best Companies Group.
The award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the accounting industry, benefiting the nation’s economy, its workforce and businesses. TBC is a recipient of the award in the Medium-Sized Companies category, which includes firms with 50 – 249 employees. There were 45 companies honored in this category throughout the United States.
TBC is an Albany-based accounting and advisory firm that was founded in 1971. This was the first year that the firm was nominated for the award, and as such, it is the first time TBC has garnered the “Best Accounting Firms” award.

Accounting firms from across the country entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Accounting Firms to Work for. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated firm’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top firms and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final rankings.
With over 70 employees, 15 of which have more than 25 years of employment at TBC, the firm credits much of its success to the dedication, commitment and longevity of its employees. The firm regularly hosts employee outings, promotes wellness and has a year round commitment to work life balance. Employees are given support for the CPA Exam and other professional designations, as well as opportunities to further their industry knowledge through Continuing Professional Education (CPE) courses and conferences, but locally and nationally.
