TBC Gives Back

Albany, N.Y. – The staff at Teal, Becker, & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. did a lot to give back to the community. Administrative manager, Gail Watson, took the initiative by setting up different donation collections for the summer months.

In June, TBC collected school supplies to help CEO (Commission on Economic Opportunity) provide 650 children, in classes ranging from kindergarten through 5th grade. Employees were asked to bring in any type of supplies such as folders, markers, and glue sticks to binders and backpacks. The TBC team managed to collect one box full of supplies and two boxes full of new backpacks.

The month of August was dedicated to collecting books for our troops overseas. Books for Troops was started in southern Saratoga County, New York in 2010. Ellen Keegan, a retired school teacher, wanted to gather books to send to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq with the hopes of giving them a source of escape from the terrors they were seeing day to day. Keegan’s intention was to, also, remind the soldiers of home and let them know how grateful and proud we are of them.

The Books for Troops mission has reached 18 VA hospitals across America since its creation five years ago. On September 4, 2015, Gail Watson delivered 5 boxes to Books for Troops, Inc.; including Adult fiction books (two boxes), one box of children’s books, one box of books on CD, and one box of miscellaneous items, i.e., puzzle books, hand held games, cards, and color books and crayons.

The participation by the TBC family in the collections this summer was outstanding. It is so important to give back and TBC came together to help put smiles on the faces of those battling different obstacles around the world.
