Mayott earns certified construction industry financial professional designation

mayottTeal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. (TBC) is proud to announce that Lori E. Mayott successfully completed the certification process with The Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals (ICCIFP), to earn her professional designation as a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP).

Affiliated with the Construction Financial Management Association, the certification program tests in-depth knowledge of business management practices specific to the construction industry. Upon passing, Mayott, who is a partner at the firm, now joins only 35 other professionals in New York State and fewer than 850 professionals nationwide with this designation. Less than a third of CCIFPs are women and Mayott becomes the first associate from TBC to be certified in the firm’s 41 year history.

“We congratulate Lori on this significant achievement,” said Robert H. Kind, managing partner. “During Lori’s 25 year career at our firm, she has worked with a tremendous number of construction clients. This certification specifically reinforces her abilities to serve contractors as well as demonstrates her strong commitment to the industry.”

Prior to joining TBC, Mayott worked as a controller in the construction industry. Now as a CCIFP, a credential to recognize that a financial manager truly knows the business of construction, Mayott will be an even greater asset to the construction client base, Kind continued.

Over the years, Mayott has served on the Board of Director for Northeastern Subcontractors Association and was a member of the Board of Directors for the National Association for Women in Construction. Currently, she is involved with the Professional Women in Home Building Council through the Capital Region Builders & Remodelers Association as well as many local chambers of commerce.

Mayott joined TBC in 1988. Formerly a resident of Texas, she graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor in Business Administration in Accounting. Her practical experience as a controller for a contractor led her to specialize in audits of construction companies and related tax issues. She also provides accounting and tax services for home builders, professional practices, insurance agencies and other specialized industries.

In addition to Mayott’s client work, she takes an active role in the community through fundraising for a variety of non-profit organizations, including the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York, Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York and Karen’s Kids, an organization to benefit the children of the Arongen elementary school.

TBC is a full service accounting and business advisory firm serving commercial businesses, educational institutions, municipalities, not-for-profit organizations and individuals. Through unpredictable business environments, ongoing modifications to tax law, and evolving financial changes, their experienced team provides the business intelligence, industry experience, and the dedication to excellence that consistently delivers exceptional service.
