Dembo, Freedman & Shutt, CPAs, P.C. joins Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte

Robert H. Kind, CPA, Managing Partner of Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte CPAs, P.C. (TBC) has announced that Albany-based accounting firm Dembo, Freedman & Shutt, CPAs, P.C. has joined TBC effective October 1, 2012.

Kind advises “This continues TBC’s strategy of growing organically and through acquisitions.” It is the firm’s ninth acquisition since it was founded in 1971. TBC will benefit with additional clients, particularly family owned businesses and individuals.

Dembo, Freedman & Shutt, founded in 1981, operated under two shareholding partners in Donald E. Shutt, CPA and George N. Cefferillo, Jr., CPA. Shutt has over 51 years experience in the industry and is a founding partner of Dembo, Freedman and Shutt. Cefferillo has over 30 years of public accounting experience. Both will join TBC’s team of partners.

“Dembo, Freedman & Shutt has sustained many long-term client relationships throughout its 31 year history,” said Kind. “The firm has preserved a strong client base because these partners have provided excellent services that have enabled their clients to thrive.”

“We attribute much of the firm’s success to Donald’s and George’s profound commitment to providing closely-held and family owned businesses, as well as larger commercial companies and individuals, with tailored services and constantly evolving the firm’s offerings to meet their clients’ specific needs, often requiring services above and beyond typical accounting and tax work,” Kind said.

“As we transition our clients to TBC, we feel that this new venture will enable us to provide expanded benefits and excellent resources to our loyal patrons,” Shutt said. “Ultimately, this will allow our clients to benefit from an even larger selection of services.”

“When we were evaluating the benefits of joining TBC, a couple of things stood out to us about the firm’s culture and philosophy. It became evident to us that TBC’s mission focuses on being responsive to clients, treating employees fairly and giving back to the community – all of these qualities and more made this firm an ideal choice for us to partner with at this time,” Shutt said.

TBC offers accounting and auditing, personal and corporate tax, trusts and estates, business advisory, valuation and pension services for a diversified clientele in five primary markets: commercial businesses, governmental, employee benefit plans, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals. Commercial clientele includes construction contractors, distributors, manufacturers, professional service firms, real estate developers, retailers, technology companies and wholesalers among other businesses.
