Tax Manager

Position Responsibilities

  • Providing clients with tax advice and guidance tailored to their unique needs
  • Performing in-depth research and analysis using authoritative sources
  • Writing memorandums to support tax positions
  • Preparing and reviewing complex tax forms for clients in various industries
  • Reviewing financial statements to identify tax compliance issues
  • Keeping up to date with ongoing changes to legislation that will effect planning activities and assessing when these changes should be communicated to clients
  • Managing the engagement team on each project; monitoring the time budgets and the progress of the work while providing support and on-the-job training to staff
  • Building and managing relationships with clients and providing them with planning ideas and opportunities
  • Understanding clients’ needs and identifying areas where additional services may be offered
  • Mentoring, developing and supervising staff members
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

To qualify for this role you must have:

  • A Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation, or a related degree that provided eligibility to sit for the CPA examination in NYS
  • Approximately 6 to 10 years of related work experience
  • CPA certification in NYS
  • A background in tax compliance and accounting for income tax and a broad understanding of US income taxation
  • Experience reading and reviewing financial statements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing projects and adhering to budgets
  • Ability to manage and supervise staff while monitoring engagement progress
  • Expertise in organization and the ability to establish priorities when working on multiple projects
  • Ability to analyze complex tax matters
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and tax preparation software
