Ryan M. Smith, CPA

Ryan has been affiliate with Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte CPAs, P.C. since November 1997.  He supervises all phases of audit engagements of nonprofit entities, governmental units (including colleges) and commercial entities.  He meets the specialized continuing professional education requirements to perform audits in accordance with Governmental Auditing Standards.  Ryan is also experienced in tax services for a diverse client base consisting of construction, wholesalers, manufacturers and individuals. Susan R. Drislane Joins Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte CPAs, P.C.

Susan DrislaneSue graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and a Master of Science Degree in Accounting.  She joined the firm in October 2008.  Prior to joining TBC, Sue was a shareholder responsible for all aspects of an accounting firm including accounting and auditing services, tax services, information technology and quality control. She also worked in the tax department of another accounting firm as well as for the NYS Comptrollers Office.

Sue’s main responsibilities consist of managing and supervising the firm’s tax and management advisory services for a large client base with a concentration in insurance administration.  She also provides accounting and auditing services.  Other industries that Sue specializes in are employee benefit plans, real estate, and hospitality.

Paid Time Off:

  • Permanent employees earn vacation and sick time that is accrued monthly
  • After one year of employment permanent employees earn two personal days
  • Permanent employees are paid for seven holidays per year

Steven M. Egna

Director of Business Advisory Services

Steve EgnaSteve is a Certified Business Appraiser (CBA) Accredited by the Institute of Business Appraisers and has over 25 years of diversified financial leadership and management experience. He brings a practical hands-on approach to all of his work. In particular, when working with valuation and planning clients his past experience as a senior leader in companies provides the client with a unique perspective that they generally do not see from other service providers. He has worked on numerous valuation related assignments throughout his career.

In addition to financial planning and valuation related assignments, his specialties include mergers and acquisitions, operations analysis; and comprehensive product line profitability analysis including standard cost development. He has led cross-functional teams from various disciplines including systems, risk management, operations, sales and marketing. His skills were primarily developed through various leadership, management and analytical assignments at General Electric, including serving as the Finance Director for GE Capital’s United Kingdom automobile financing business. In addition he has been the Chief Financial Officer and Finance Director of two Capital District based mid-market professional services firms. Steve was also one of five Managing Director/Owners of an Investment Banking and Business Consulting firm located in Latham, NY.

Steve is a 1982 highest honors graduate of Northeastern University in Boston where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In 1984, he was an honors graduate of General Electric’s Financial Management Program. He also earned a Masters of Management from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and is a 2002 graduate of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Capital Leadership Program.

His other activities include being on the board of Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar, as well as on the Advisory Board of The Stakeholders.  In addition, he has been a guest lecturer at SUNY Albany and The Graduate College of Union University and is currently an instructor for the Institute of Business Appraisers.  Steve is available to speak on a variety of advisory related topics.  He has also spent many years as a youth group advisor, coaching youth sports and is a certified US Soccer Federation referee.

Kevin TullyKevin graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Siena College and thereafter earned a Masters of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany. He is licensed to practice in New York State, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Alabama.

After joining the firm over 20 years ago, he soon became directly accountable for managing the firm’s tax department. In addition, he has developed an expertise in performing audits of limited partnerships in compliance with HUD guidelines and electronic submission of audits using REAC reporting system.  He meets all continuing professional education requirements to perform audits in accordance with Governmental Auditing Standards.

Joe serves the United Way of Northeastern New York as a member of the audit review team. He also participates in the activities of the Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce and is a past graduate of the Rensselaer Community Leadership Program. Maye AschauerMaye joined the firm in 1996. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Siena College and a Masters in Taxation degree from the New York State University at Albany. Maye has also obtained a Certificate of Educational Achievement in Business Valuations from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
