Albany, N.Y.– YWCA’s mission statement reads, “The YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.” YWCA welcomes women in times of crisis, victim advocacy, job training and career counseling, and for safe and affordable housing. It provides women with the opportunity to a fresh start.
In 2000, The Resourceful Women’s Luncheon awards were founded to acknowledge and honor those whose community and professional endeavors advance the empowerment of women. It seeks to honor everyday women who make a difference in the workplace, community, and beyond. All proceeds from the Resourceful Women’s Luncheon benefit the YWCA of the Greater Capital Region.
TBC’s very own employee, Gail Watson was honored at this year’s luncheon on September 30th under the front-line category. The front-line category is for women in supportive roles such as receptionists, executive assistants, sales associates, bookkeepers, etc.
Gail’s professional role at Teal, Becker, and Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. is to oversee the administrative staff and all of her team members’ many responsibilities at the firm. However, she goes beyond that by orchestrating countless volunteer and fundraising efforts over the course of the year. Gail coordinated over 20 fundraising efforts in 2014 alone.
Gail’s efforts do not end when she leaves the workplace. She is deeply involved with the organization, Southern Saratoga County Chamber Angels, in her hometown of Clifton Park. Through this organization, she participates in providing holiday cheer for hundreds of children of families in financial distress.
Gail has been a part of the TBC team for over twenty years and she has proven to be a truly invaluable asset to the firm and community. Her staff, consisting of all women, view Gail as a mentor and role model and because of this, are happy to help her in any way possible.
