(TBC) announced today that it has successfully completed a peer review of its accounting and auditing practice, one of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) approved practice monitoring programs. The reviewer’s opinion was the highest possible achievement in a peer review.

November 23, 2011 – TBC Sponsors Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Day

Albany, NY November 23, 2011 – With the Thanksgiving holiday nearing and a mission to help 40 charities this year, employees from Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. (TBC) took part in a firm volunteer day to build homes through Capital District Habitat for Humanity on Friday, November 18.

The Albany based accounting and advisory firm coordinated a team of more than a dozen volunteers to work on Habitat’s “Morton’s Walk” project, a build consisting of six houses on Alexander Street in Albany’s South End neighborhood. The build is the largest single construction project in organization’s 23 year history.

In addition to teaming up with Capital District Habitat for Humanity, TBC has vowed to support 40 charities throughout 2011, an initiative to recognize the firm’s 40th year in business. Capital District Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit housing partnership dedicated to building simple, decent and affordable housing with lower-income families in need, relies on volunteer labor and donations of money and materials to provide affordable homeownership to those people who would not otherwise have that opportunity.

“Our firm and the employees are personally invested in the community,” said Managing Partner Robert H. Kind. “TBC has always encouraged the employees to give back. By sponsoring a volunteer day during the week we not only provided our employees with a great opportunity to roll up their sleeves and dedicate a full day of service, but we also helped Habitat fill their need of volunteer assistance during the week, which is especially needed now as the weather gets colder and the organization aims to complete the homes so some of the families can move in by Christmas.”

June 16, 2011 – TBC Donates $10,000 to Center for Disability Services in honor of 40th year

Founded in 1971, TBC is an accounting and advisory firm located in Albany. The Center for Disability Services is a non-profit organization that provides services to more than 15,000 individuals and their families at 85 locations in nine upstate counties. A check presentation at the firm’s office in Washington Square occurred today in conjunction with a special anniversary celebration to honor TBC’s 40 years in business.

The donation, designated to Center Health Care, is part of the accounting firm’s “40 Years, 40 Charities” charitable initiative, in which TBC vowed to support 40 non-profit organizations throughout 2011. To highlight this initiative, TBC founders Ron Teal, Larry Becker and John Chiaramonte, along with 80 associates who presently are employed by the firm, were joined by City of Albany Mayor Gerald D. Jennings, President of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce Mark Egan and President and CEO of the Center for Disability Services Alan Krafchin.

“Community advocacy has always been an underlying theme in our business,” said TBC Managing Partner Robert H. Kind. “Whether we are supporting the communities where our employees live, the communities where we do business in or supporting our not-for-profit clients, we are committed to helping those in need and helping to create a brighter tomorrow. The firm’s associates stood by as Albany Mayor Gerald D. Jennings delivered a proclamation and presented a certificate to the firm to commemorate TBC for 40 years of business in Albany.

Katherine Farrow Joins TBC as Firm’s First Marketing Manager

Albany, NY April 22, 2011 – Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. (TBC) announced today that Katherine Farrow has become the firm’s first Marketing Manager since the firm was established in 1971.

“Katherine’s background in marketing professional service firms and her experience in public relations are a perfect fit for our firm. As TBC embarks on its fourth decade of service in the Albany area, we are proud to have her as our first marketing manager,” said Robert H. Kind, managing partner of TBC.

Katherine’s main responsibilities consist of leading TBC’s efforts to generate market awareness. She will manage the development, implementation and execution of annual marketing strategies and business development.

Partner Stephanie L. Bartkowiak is Named to 40 Under Forty List

Albany, NY March 18, 2011 - Stephanie L. Bartkowiak of Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C (TBC) has been named to the Business Review’s 40 Under Forty Class of 2011. The award honors forty Capital Region professionals under 40 years of age for their business accomplishments and community contributions.

Bartkowiak, who is 34 years old, is TBC’s first employee to receive this accolade since the award program’s inception 11 years ago. This year’s class of 40 Under Forty honorees was selected from more than 300 nominations. As one of the 40 honorees selected by an advisory committee of business leaders, she will be honored at a luncheon on May 12 at the Crowne Plaza Albany Hotel.

“It is a wonderful honor to share this recognition with an incredible line up of young business men and women,” Bartkowiak said.

Bartkowiak joined TBC in 1999. She began work as an accountant immediately after graduating from Siena College where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. During her tenure, she has been an instrumental part of the firm’s audit team, overseeing all phases of the audit engagements and developing strong relationships with a diverse group of clients, ranging from non-profit entities, employee benefits plans, and governmental entities. In 2010, Bartkowiak was promoted to partner, making her the firm’s the youngest female to hold this position in the organization’s 40 year history.

Albany, NY September 10, 2010 – Karen Foster, Senior Pension Consultant with Teal, Becker & Chiaramonte, CPAs, P.C. has earned the Qualified 401(k) Administrator Credential (QKA) from the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries.
